Gambitta taught me the true meaning of the word athlete. By witnessing his perseverance as an athlete himself, I learned the importance of finishing a workout. He taught me to be comfortably uncomfortable, especially during intense workouts, such as gauntlet fitness tests. His passion for coaching athletes has always been apparent through well-researched, sport-specific workout programs.
I started regularly training with Gambitta before my freshman year of college, where I would begin my four-year career as a Division I lacrosse player. He undoubtedly helped me create a strong foundation, built on dedication and diligence, which allowed me to avoid injury and excel as an athlete. During my first semester of college, I impressed my strength and conditioning coach with speed, strength, and excellent form, despite being an incoming freshman. Throughout my college career, I consistently finished among the top, often the top, for running and strength tests. I was the first player in program history to earn 1st team All-Conference honors, as well as the first to play in the North/South All-star game. I broke a school record for career draw controls, and finished ninth in the nation in draw controls during my senior season. These successes would have been impossible had it not been for that initial foundation that Gambitta helped me to build and reinforce season after season.
